Justice Select Committee - Call for Submissions on End of Life Choice Bill
Make a Submission
Public submissions are closed for the End of Life Choice Bill.
The Justice Select Committee are asking the public to write in to let them know your views on David Seymour's End of Life Choice Bill. Read the bill here. The Bill seeks to legalise euthanasia and assisted suicide - called assisted dying in the Bill) for people with a terminal illness or a "grievous and irremediable" medical condition.
(Please note that this is different from the previous inquiry conducted by the Health Select Committee because the Justice Committee's inquiry is specifically about Seymour's End of Life Choice Bill.)
The closing date for submissions was midnight on Tuesday, 6 March 2018.
Making a submission is easy and it can be as short or as long as you want it to be, provided you mention the Bill specifically.
The most important thing to write is that you oppose the End of Life Choice Bill. Give a reason for your view (see resources below) and add a story if you have one. You may wish to include details like your occupation (especially if you are a doctor, nurse or lawyer), your age, or your ethnicity.
It is important that the Committee hears from as many people as possible. We encourage you to also make an oral submission. This is where you appear before the Committee either in person or over the phone and is an extra opportunity to add more information.
You can make a submission online, by email, or by post. Because submissions are publicly released and published to the Parliament website, keep your contact details separate.
